Annual Health Screens
As part of your pet's annual vaccination program, we will give your pet a thorough physical exam. This procedure allows us to determine the overall physical health of your pet. It also allows us to examine your pet closely for problems that may be considered breed specific. This simply means that certain breeds of dogs and cats are pre-disposed to certain problems.

Our physical examination will help alert you to potential problems which may occur. The physical exam, however, does not allow us to determine the overall health of the internal organs. Only a blood screen will do that. This short procedure will detect any liver and kidney problems as well as check for anemia, diabetes, and infections. We recommend this screening for all pets two to seven years of age. If your pet is seven years or older, ask about our senior care program. As in all health evaluations, early detection is the key as it allows for more and better treatment options. If you have any questions, please feel free to call.

Emergency Care:
We participate in the West Side Animal Emergency Clinic. This facility is available to you after hours and on holidays. In the case of an emergency after consulting hours, you may wish to speak to one of our office veterinarians before proceeding  to the emergency clinic. To do so, call our normal phone number and follow the directions to have a doctor paged.

While stable patients can be hospitalized here long term, the most critical patients can be transferred to the West Side Animal Emergency Clinic. There, they will receive after-hours care by resident veterinarians and staff.

Boarding:
Our boarding kennel is an all-indoor climate controlled facility. Each animal is kept in an individual compartment. Each dog is taken to an enclosed outdoor exercise area 2-3 times daily. Clean towels, blankets and bowls are provided for your pet. All animals are fed Purina Pro Plan and Science Diet pet foods. When requested, special diets may be fed, and you are welcome to bring their regular diet from home. We can also bathe your pet upon request so that it smells nicely when it goes home.

In order to maintain a healthy environment, animals infested with external parasites such as fleas and ticks may need to be  treated at the owner's expense before entering the kennel. Pets will receive any necessary care that is needed for their  comfort while with us.

All pets must be dropped off or picked up during regular office hours Monday through Saturday. Reservations are recommended, especially for holidays and summer weekends. During these times, it is recommended that you call 2-3 weeks in advance to lessen the chance that your pet may not have a place to stay.

Grooming:
Grooming is available on an appointment basis. You can have your pet trimmed up or shaved for the summer heat. Your pet can be flea free after a bath and receiving effective flea control.
